On-site Upgrade Service

Memory Ordering and Installation

A memory upgrade provides the biggest bang for your buck. Having fast, high-capacity memory allows you to get more work done at higher speeds.

A technician will:

Remotely determine what kind of memory is compatible with your computer.
Order the correct memory for you.
Remove any old, non-compatible memory and install the new memory.
Ensure that the computer recognizes and is utilizing the new memory properly.

Note: If your computer was custom-built, we will not be able to determine the type of memory needed without opening up the case and inspecting the motherboard and memory currently installed. We can inspect your computer for free but a trip charge must be applied.

Note: Our flat price does not cover the cost of new memory modules. We require advanced payment to order memory modules. This payment can not be refunded.

Video Card Ordering and Installation

When it comes to gaming and high definition graphics, there is no better upgrade than a video card upgrade. Sandstorm Technical Services will work with you to determine the best video card for your needs, take care of ordering, and installing the video card.

A technician will:

Determine your requirements for a video card.*
Research to find the best video cards for your computer, your needs, and price budget.
Follow up to offer you choices and explain the benefits of the suggested video cards.
Install your chosen video card.**
Ensure that the computer recognizes the new video card and is utilizing the new video card properly.
Download and install the latest driver for the new video card. (Requires internet connection.)
Ensure that the updated video card driver is functioning properly.
Attempt to troubleshoot if any problems arise.

Hard Drive Ordering and Installation

Installing a second hard drive into your computer will allow you to quickly backup data onto a second hard drive and also increases your storage capacity. Sandstorm keeps 250GB Western Digital hard drives in stock, but we can order larger hard drives if you wish.

A technician will:

Remotely determine what type of hard drive is compatible with your computer.*
Determine whether you'd like to upgrade by adding a 250GB Western Digital hard drive or custom order a larger hard drive.
Install your chosen hard drive.**
Ensure that the computer recognizes the new hard drive and is utilizing the new hard drive properly.

*If your computer was custom-built, we will not be able to determine the type of memory needed without opening up the case and inspecting the motherboard and connections currently installed. We can inspect your computer for free but a trip charge must be applied.

**Our flat price does not cover the cost of the hard drive. Our 250GB hard drives usually cost around $65 but the price does vary. The exact price will be determined when you call to order your service. We require advanced payment for any hard drives that are custom ordered. This payment can not be refunded.

A technician will:

Connect the device to your desktop or laptop computer.
Install device software and update any drivers.
Configure the device to meet your needs.*
Ensure the device is working properly.

Windows XP or Vista Installation

Upgrading your operating system? Let us help your get your new operating system setup quickly. We'll make sure your installation is done correctly and safely. Our operating system installations come in three flavors.

Full System Format Installation - With this type of installation, all traces of the old operating system and old data are deleted and replaced with a fresh copy of the new operating system. This is a great solution if you just want a fresh start!
Upgrade Installation - We will remove the old operating system and replace it with the new operating system while keeping your data intact.
Dual-Boot Installation - This type of installation keeps your old operating and adds on the new one. You will be able to choose which operating system you'd like to boot into during startup. This is a good solution if you have software that will only work with your old operating system.
